Ive never ever have ran before in my life, lets just say I have a humongous chest and they hurt when running even if properly restrained, so I made a commitment to start this couch to 5k program[couch25k website] ,
Day 1: was exhausting I did it on the treadmill at the gym at work and I thought I was going to die but made it through each section of running and walking without cheating and stopping prematurely and felt awesome afterwards after I cooled down.
Day 2: is a different story, I tried to do this OUTSIDE like around the block, not a good idea especially since I live in Florida "the center of the sun as Amy says" granted it was 7pm but it was still like 95 degrees outside, and around my block there are hills and It didn't work, I couldn't do it I couldn't run for the full 60 seconds that was required for each section of running/jogging, I was trying to breath in through my nose and out through my mouth and couldn't I really thought I was going to die, But at least I tried from now on I will stay inside in the air conditioning on the treadmill.
Day 3: went well was not stupid and stayed inside on the treadmill didn't cheat again did each section as in the program and felt like I accomplished allot, I still think I'm a little to out of shape to move on to the next week so I think I'm going to stay on week one until I feel a little more comfortable when running.
I am very proud of myself for even attempting this hopefully one day I will be able to run the whole time!!!
Notes to self:
-Need new shoes for running, Mom is getting me those I just have to go with her to pick them out....
-Stretch for a longer period of time before starting the workout [legs cramping]
-buy a new sports bra or some duct tape to tape these baby's down!

One of my friends posted the couch to 5k thing, and I didn't know if it was really good or not. Now I'm intrigued and want to give it a whirl. *lol* I think we're going to maybe look into finding a treadmill or something because it's way too hot to be our running. I joked around with th ehubs a few days ago that if I wanted to be this hot, we could have just stayed in Texas! *lol*
Hang in there, you can do it! A few tips though...
* for the new shoes, get professionally fit if at all possible, Running Wild can fit you
* double up on sports bras (helped me till mine shrank)
* breathe in through your mouth, otherwise you may not be getting enough oxygen
Lacey-good idea on doubling up on the sports bra. I will try this at bootcamp tomorrow!
Mary-I agree with Lacey about good shoes. I didnt go to running wild but thought about it. I ended up doing some research online about what to look for and got some great shoes at Academy. I had been wearing Nike Shox and those suckers killed my shins and hurt my feet once I started working towards to the 5k. The right shoes are totally worth it.
As for outside...I know its so much harder but if you are planning on running a 5k outside its good for your body to get used to it....ya know?
Thank you guys for the tips and advice they really did help!!!,
I do plan on running a 5k outside but I think I need to work up to it because Im just now starting and it is SOOOO freakin hot outside, if it was 30 degrees outside I would gladly run outside no problem LOL.
I got some new awesome shoes that are so comfy when I run and make my feet and legs feel so much better!!! I also do need to foucs on stretching more before I do run beacuse I dont think that I spend enough time on that.
Ill have to try on doubling up on the sports bra sounds like a good idea I gotta go get another one my other one stretched out real bad.
